Abstract

Hypertension is a serious health issue with a high prevalence in Indonesia, yet many people still lack an understanding of its risks and how to manage it. This community service program is entitled "Family Support Empowerment in the Effort to Prevent and Manage Hypertension at Posyandu Mardi Rahayu III." The program aims to increase public knowledge and awareness about hypertension and encourage active family participation in prevention and management efforts. The main issue faced is the low level of public knowledge about hypertension and the minimal family involvement in supporting the management of this condition. The proposed solution is a family empowerment program that includes intensive and ongoing education, practical training for family members, and assistance from health cadres. Education is delivered through seminars, workshops, and the distribution of educational materials, while the training focuses on how to monitor blood pressure, maintain a healthy diet, and the importance of medication adherence. Pearson analysis showed significant correlations between the role of the family (p<0.05), health literacy (p<0.00), systolic blood pressure (p<0.00), and diastolic blood pressure (p<0.05). The implementation of this program effectively supports the prevention and management of hypertension, improves the quality of life for the community at Posyandu Mardi Rahayu III, and significantly reduces the prevalence of hypertension.
