HUBUNGAN DUKUNGAN SOSIAL TERHADAP DISTRESS PSIKOLOGIK PADA PRIMARY FAMILY CAREGIVER PENDERITA SKIZOFRENIA DI POLI JIWA RSUD JUNJUNG BESAOH KABUPATEN BANGKA SELATAN

Abstract

Background: Mental health is a condition where a person is cognitively, affectively, physiologically, behaviorally and socially healthy so that he is able to fulfill his responsibilities, function effectively in his environment and be satisfied with his role as an individual and in interpersonal relationships. Objective: To analyze The relationship between social support and psychological distress in primary family caregivers of schizophrenia patients at the Mental Health Polyclinic of Junjung Besaoh Regional Hospital, South Bangka Regency in 2025 . Method : This study used a cross-sectional approach with independent variables ( social support, length of care, and education ) and dependent variables ( Primary Family Caregiver Psychological Distress ). The population size in this study was 134 people and a sample of 63 people was calculated using simple random sampling. The research tool was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: Most patients had good social support, namely 25 people (80.6%), and the p-value for the social support variable was obtained . 0.000

< 0.05. This shows that there is a relationship between social support and psychological distress in primary family caregivers . Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between social support and psychological distress in primary family caregivers of schizophrenia sufferers.
